making boats out of natural resources and what ever we have lying around the house.
The first time i saw the boat is by the fence at the next door neighbours i reached under the fence and pulled it through. Mum said it was a palm tree leaf all dried up, it was perfect for a boat.
First i sealed up the holes with black tape, then i started to put the seats in,at first it was cardboard seats, then i took them out and started to work on the rudder which can turn the boat to different angles.
Then i started to work on the sails, because they are so important, i glued heaps of Popsicle sticks in a row to make the mast then glued it to the inside of the boat, after that was dry i started to cut out the paper for the sail and glued that on. I also made a solar panel out of card board.
NEXT STEP - making the propela.
I will make this out of a popsical stick and a rubber band, but this will take a while.
I cant wait to take it to the lake and put it in the water to see if it floats i really hope it does.

Thank you for reading my blog post, i loved making my sail boat.
WOW Zion, I think your boat is fabulous. It was a great idea to make one using a palm tree leaf. I really like all the thought you have put into each part of your boat. I am really excited to see if it floats too. You could update your blog post if you do take it to the lake. I hope you will be able to bring this into school when we all go back. What are you going to build next?
ReplyDeletei want to make something huge. thank you for your comment
DeleteYou have obviously made a huge effort to construct this waka Zion. I understand that you had help from your brother too. Thats great collaboration and teamwork! The last time I saw that, it was not as detailed so you've added a lot more components. Excellent thinking around your construction! Well Done. Peter Burling will be impressed. Be careful, you might find yourself on the payroll!
ReplyDeleteWow you have been really busy, Zion! I did enjoy reading about how you made your boat. I hope it floats too.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome, Zion. You have put a lot of time in effort in, Tumeke!!!
ReplyDeleteMrs Neki :)
Way to go Zion! Impressive boat... Maybe Sir will let you test it out in the pool. I love how you told us how you made the boat step by step. Awesome work!!! Woohooo!
ReplyDeleteZion, you have always been so practical and creative! Well done. Love your clear description about how you made it! When you take it to the lake, I'm sure it will float! Take your family for a walk around the lake to see if you can find one of our owls we made hanging in a tree there!
ReplyDeleteZion, this is so cool. I love how you have documented everything clearly. I am looking forward to seeing if this floats. I have no doubt that it will. Keep up the amazing work Zion.
